Photos from the final race of the LifeSource Short Track series are up. The last race took place amid the sports area of the Oregon State Fair, so in addition to the racing action there were ferris wheels and wooden craftwork.

Final race tonight in the LifeSource Short Track Series
August 29, 2009

Tonight is the final race in our LifeSource Short Track Series. We've had a lot of fun in the past races and today includes the added twist that the race takes place within the Oregon State Fair. Unfortunately, thanks to the rules of the Oregon State Fair, we've had to end our registration online a little bit early and we will not be doing on-site registration at the event due to logistics. If you've missed signing up to race, you're welcome to still come out and attend the fair and watch the action.

I'm looking forward to the first race in the series where the temps aren't in the 85-90F range, as well as the deep fried things on sticks to eat.

Epic Wheel Works built-up wheels

I'm assembling the parts for my team DeSalvo Ti cross race bike and I decided to go tubeless since it worked well on my last cross bike (and I was tired of constant pinch flats from clinchers + tubes). I had an old powertap wheel I used for winter training that I plucked the hub from, got a new Chris King front hub, and paired it with Stans NoTubes' new white powercoated 29er rims. I was shopping around for places to build them up when I heard about Epic Wheel Works on Bike Portland so I decided to try them out.

Jude at Epic Wheel Works was great, building them up with a focus on strength that I need as a 200lb cyclocross rider, and she turned them around in just over a week. Highly recommended.

Fair STXC Race Parking & Check-in
August 25, 2009

Ideally, racers should attempt to park in the lot South of the Monster Truck area outlined below.  If this parking lot is full try the lot to the West of the Monster Truck area or to the South of Sunnyview Rd.  Please check in at the gate/tent outlined in the picture below.  You'll receive a free one day pass to the Oregon State Fair at this time.  Sorry, spectators will need to purchase a ticket for themselves.

Race number 2 photos/videos
August 19, 2009

If you were one of the 70 or so people that came out for the second week of racing, you no doubt got to enjoy another hot dusty night on a course that was wider and faster in most places. Preliminary results are posted on the OBRA list, but I think there were a couple racers not accounted for that we're currently trying to figure out.

I personally didn't race this week so I took my time photographing everyone I could and I think I got about fifty different racers in the this photo gallery at flickr (Two options: thumbnails of all 80 photos or larger thumbnails on five separate pages). If you want a full-sized copy of the original photo for printing or other use, feel free to hit the "All Sizes" link to get the large or Original images for download.

I also shot a few short HD video clips mostly during the Cat 1/Pro race, here's the result:

Thanks to all 68 racers that came out for the first Short Track race in Salem. Preliminary results have been posted to the OBRA list.

Photos I took of the Cat2/Singlespeed and Cat1/Pro races are now posted on Flickr. Feel free to download the highest resolution photo of yourself by clicking on the photo then hitting the "all sizes" option.

If anyone else took any shots or video tonight, feel free to post a link in the comments.
